Fall Weekend...

Abe, Alex and I spent this absolutely beautiful weekend visitng with my family in the country. The trees have started to change already out there, and the scenery is incredible since they are surrounded by so many mountains. I have some pictures of the nice fall foliage that I'll post later. Alex had a great time! He got to pick his first pumpkin from Higson's Farm in Wiley Ford, WV. It's a smaller farm about 30 minutes from where I grew up. They had tons to choose from, and they're super cheap out there, so we got two big pumpkins and a little one to represent Alex. They are now sitting in front of our house and we are hoping they don't get smashed. I think it's ridiculous when people go around smashing pumpkin, and I can honestly say that's something I never did when I was younger. I just never saw the point in it. They've been there for a few hours now though, and so far, so good. My family was shocked to see how big Alex is getting. His nana had bought him about a thousand new things (as usual) so we spent some time looking at the new vlothes and letting him play with his new toys. By the time we were finished unwinding Friday night, Alex was going to bed way late! He still did very well though, considering. He also got to visit with his Great-Grandma who could only see him for a bit since she left for Missouri very early this morning. She is very excited to see him in two weeks when we go back for Trick-or-Treating and my brother's 23rd birthday. My Grandma's town has always held Trick-or-Treating on the Sunday before Halloween, because they don't like the kids running around at night. It works out great for us, because now he can dress up and Trick-or Treat here and there, and everyone gets to see him in his costume. My brother (who is back in action once again) is turning 23 on October 27, so we'll also be celebrating that he's managed to make it to 23! LOL.  Well--I better say goodnight soon. Field Trip tomorrow--me vs. LOTS of 7th graders means I need my sanity rest. Have a great week and enjoy the photos posted!

Alex is 7 Months Old!

Alex turned 7 months old yesterday, October 5. I can't believe how big he's getting! We took him to the doctor today and he weighs 19lbs. 120z. (65th percentile) and is 27 3/4 inches long (70th percentile). His head circumference is 44 cm (50th percentile). She said he'sright on track and doing very well. He's hit all of the milestones they expect babies to hit at 7 months! We were of course thrilled to hear that our little man is growing normally and doing well. He got 3 shots--one of which was a flu shot. He did really well with them though! He cried for maybe 3 minutes initially and then never made another peep. He now has two teeth! His two incisors have arrived and he's doing really well with them. No fevers, no sleepless nights, and minimal fussiness. I know, I know..we're lucky and our second one will be a demon..we've already been told. We have such a good baby though, it's true! He slept through the night at 2 months, hasn't woken up at night since, never spits up, and is just generally very at ease and content most of the time. He pretty much eats all of his baby food, and doesn't seem very picky with anything anymore. He even eats peas okay now! We can only hope that #2 will mimic his/her brothers actions when he/she comes along down the road. We probably won't be this lucky again though! LOL. In other news, we had a family yardsale on Sunday at Maria's house and had eight children running around her house! Maria's two sons, Mary's son and daughter, our son, and Corinne's son and two daughters! It was like a daycare! Very fun though! Three of the kids were under one year! Alex was born in March, Julia in July, and Charlye in September! It's really cool that they'll all grow up together though. Some pictures from the weekend follow. Enjoy!

Alex and Julia's Christening and Alex's First Tooth!

On Saturday, September 27th, our son Alex and our niece Julia were christened together at our church in Dundalk. The weather was certainly interesting, as we ushered the babies in the church under the guise of huge umbrellas due to torrential rain. The priest was about an hour late because he had to eat at Denny's. All in all though, it was still a beautiful day! The babies looked adorable in their white satin outfits. Alex looked like such a handsome little man with his little tie and vest and satin shoes, and Julia looked like such a sweet little princess in her lacy dress. They both did very well during the ceremony itself, accepting the oil and water without a second look. Alex just kind of looked around the whole time and didn't seem too impressed by the whole thing! LOL. Julia was a little disturbed by the process in the beginning, but fell asleep shortly after the start of the ceremony. After the ceremony, we went to Damon's Grill at Arundel Mill and had a celebration dinner. We feasted on BBQ chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, smoked turkey, herb rice, beef brisket, chicken tenders and mozarella stucks. We also had two beautiful cakes, provided to us by Maria--one baby boy cake, and one baby girl cake! Alex received many nice things for his christening. He  got a nice keepsake engraved box with a cross necklace from his godparents--Mary and Dave. He also got some savings bonds, sleepers, toys, and a blanket from other guests. It was a lovely day for both of our families. In other news, Alex got his first tooth on Wednesday! It is his lower right incisor. It looks like the left incisor will be pushing through next. He has been a little fussier than usual, but nothing too out of the ordinary. We can't believe how big he is getting and how many new things he learns everyday. He's sitting up really well now too. I'll try to post a video of him showing off these skills. He can sit without falling for up to 30 minutes, or even more sometimes. Below are some pictures from the christening and the week. Our First Anniversary!

Abe and I celebrated our first anniversary on Sunday. That's right we've maganed to makw it through a year of marriage---with a new baby and a new house to go along with it! On September 21, 2007 we were married at the Baltimore City Courthouse, and then had a "church" wedding on August 10 of this year. September 21st also happens to be the anniversary of the day we met, which is pretty cool if you ask me! We kept the day pretty low key, and celebrated it on Saturday by going to Don Pablos to eat some Mexican food. We prefer to celebrate the September anniversary because it's really or true anniversary, whereas August 10 was really just for show I guess. Anyway, it was a nice day and we had a great time together as a family. We took Alex with us of course, and he kept squealing, and LOUD! It was embarassing and hilarious at the same time! I thought the guy behind us was going to kill us, due to the fact that he was giving us the look of death the whole time! LOL. It seemed like Alex knew he was getting on the guys nerves, because he just got louder each time the guy looked at us. Sometimes I think most of the general no-children public thinks those of us with small children should stay locked up in the hosue or something. Besides his new found talent for squealing at the top of his lungs, Alex is also getting very good at sitting up! He can balance himself very well now and sits up for several minutes without toppling over! I'll post a video later tonight once I fiure out how to turn it right side up since I had the camera turned sideways when filming it. He can even regain balance when he starts to tip to one side, which you'll see in the video. He's sitting more straight up to, instead of leaning forward like he was doing before. He's also still a huge fan of his swing, even though his feet sort of hang over the edge. He just loves it, still sleeps in it, and won't give it up! Me and Abe always joke that when we decide to have a second, the baby will have to fight him for it! He also absolutely loves his toys! I know what he'll be asking for come Christmas! Abe said when he drops Alex off at daycare he just puts him on the floor and Alex immediately grabs at the toys on the floor and forgets Abe even exists! LOL. He just loves anything that makes noise,lights up and especially anything that moves! In other news--I am so excited that it's fall!!!! Fall and Spring are my favorite seasons. Fall has such nice weather and beautiful scenery when we drive back home to the mountains. I am so excited to pick out Alex's first pumpkin, take him to his first visit to Weber's Farm, and see him in his very first Halloween costume! Until next time...
